| Popular, cutting-edge design does what a backstop is supposed to do. The Arch Backstop Superior Beauty, Function, Safety, and Economy. Why install a boxy, old-style backstop when you can beautify your park, and add life to your field with The Arch Backstop by National Fence Systems. Function Ball Capture: The Arch comes in two styles, the perpendicular (Vertical front) and the Layback (inclined front) style. Both styles provide superior ball-capture properties, saving lost time retrieving foul balls behind the plate. Placement/Location: Better ball capture also means that diamonds can now be placed in closer proximity to parking lots, playgrounds, and buildings – making better use of limited land resources. Unobstructed View: Coaches, players, and spectators all have a clearer view of the playing field from any angle. Safety Designed-in Strength: The unique Arch design is engineered to withstand windloads of up to 100mph. Fewer Climbing Accidents: The Arch is difficult to climb, discouraging kids (and adults) from trying. Economy Low Maintenance: The Arch is constructed of heavy gauge galvanized steel, making it virtually maintenance free. Simple Assembly and Installation: The Arch is so simple to erect, no field welding is needed. Manufacturing controls assure perfect symmetry. Manufactured with a choice of two popular styles, six sizes, and a variety of colors to meet any need! Easy, trouble-free installation: National Fence Systems completely assembles and disassembles every single backstop before shipping, in order to assure a precise fit of all parts. Kolor King Super Durable Polyester Coatings are available in a choice of Black, Brown, or Green. Galvanized finish is standard. Optional overhead extension The Perpendicular design backstops are offered with optional overhead extensions in two sizes (5’ or 10’) increasing the depth of the backstop to accommodate different league spacing requirements. | Style | Width | Height | Depth | Perpendicular (P) | | | | | NFS 3014 P | 30' | 14'6" | 14'6" | NFS 4015 P | 40' | 15'6" | 15'6" | NFS 5014 P | 50' | 14'6" | 14'6" | NFS 6220 P | 62' | 20' | 20' | Layback (L) | | | | NFS 6220 L | 62' | 20' | 20' | NFS 5014 L | 50' | 14'6" | 14'6" | The Perpendicular style provides an optional 5’ or 10’ extension. Chain-link fabric is available in 1-inch and 2-inch mesh, with the option of nine, six and three gauge fabric.

Product Specifications GENERAL Backstops are manufactured in two basic design types: Perpendicular and Layback; and are available in a variety of sizes in each design. The Perpendicular design backstops are offered with optional overhead 5’ and 10’ extensions, increasing the depth of the backstop to accommodate different spacing requirements. Perpendicular design backstops, with or without optional overhead extension, are designed for 100% capture of foul balls behind home plate when home plate is located directly under the overhead arch or extension. The Layback design permits “live play” of foul balls hit directly above and a few degrees behind home plate. It is designed for 75% ball capture, when home plate is located at the very front of the backstop opening (a distance from the rear of the backstop equal to its depth). WINDLOAD RESISTANCE The backstop shall be manufactured and installed in strict accordance with these specifications in order to comply with standards prevailing at the time of field testing for a windload resistance of 100mph. MATERIALS: All materials are selected for strength, durability, and the ability to withstand years of use and exposure. All pipe is schedule 40 galvanized steel, and is coated with the Kolor King Super Durable Polyester Color Coating System. OVERHEAD AND BASE ARCHES: 2 7/8” O.D. pipe, wall thickness .203”. Arches shall be formed to provide a smooth radius. All pipe frame joints, connecting individual sections of arches, and joints where the overhead arch intersects the base arch shall consist of an internal sleeve of 2-3/8” O.D. 80 galvanized steel pipe (wall thickness .218”), factory welded with a continuous filler weld to the ends of the arches. All field assembles joints shall be locked in place with 5/8” – 11 socket head set screws, hammer tightened one full turn past hand tight in 5/8” – 11 hex nuts, welded to the receiving end of the joints (flexible joints or field welding is unacceptable).
